This original duo’s playful and modern music in the album Tjáhtje ja dållå, released in 2023, stems from sámi yoik and west african rhythms. On stage you’ll experience yoik,
sámi drumming, accordeon, flute and a variety of west african percussion instruments in exciting costumes and magic masks, blended in a suggestive sea of electronic sounds
and heavy beats.
NiOKi Beats consists of Nina Nordvall Vahlberg and Kristina Aspeqvist and they have been playing and composing together for more than 20 years in different settings.
Both artists are also teachers and can give workshops and/ or lectures of yoik, the sámidrum, Swedish folk music, African rhythms and the role of music in traditional West African ceremonies. Workshops adapted for every age and different occasions.

Nina Nordvall Vahlberg is a sami musician and
composer based in Jokkmokk, the Northern
Sweden.

Kristina Aspeqvist is a musician / composer who spent many years researching Ghanaian and other West African rhythms.
